The Giants looked decent last night, especially in the first quarter. The Redskins, meanwhile, didn’t look good at all. My projection of eight wins for Washington isn’t looking solid, but it’s only Week One.
Manu Ginobili revealed on Thursday that extensions talks have been delayed in San Antonio following his recent ankle surgery. The Spurs will probably end up inking Manu to something before the start of the season, but it might go down to the deadline.
Talks between Delonte West and the Cavaliers are reportedly at a standstill with Cleveland offering the guard $4 million, well below the $5.5 million he wants. I’d give him closer to $4 million, but agent Aaron Goodwin believes otherwise.
David Stern reportedly made the call to kickMario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur out of the Rookie Transition Program early Wednesday morning. I don’t know why these two couldn’t have waited until the four-day event was over, or at least been a little more discrete about it.

Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano was diagnosed with shoulder tendinitis on Thursday, but hopes to be back in Chicago’s rotation by next week. Jason Giambi lost a bout with a bathroom door recently, leaving him with a bruiser on the corner of his right eyelid. Giambi is always good for a great story (see: gold thongs, partying and now bathroom doors), which, sadly, is one of the only reasons I think the Yankees need to retain him.
Mets fans are paying as much as $869 for a pair of seats taken from Shea Stadium, a moderate price to pay for a piece of history. I’d pay a hundred or so bucks for something from Yankee Stadium, but I wouldn’t shell out close to $900 for a seat, as much as I’d be tempted to do so.
Tom Brady isn’t listed on the Patriots’ injury report heading into Week One of the season, which marks the first time since the 2005 Super Bowl that he’s been absent on the list. Maybe this means that he’ll actually miss the game…
