Free agent power forward Jeff Adrien has reached agreement on a contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves under the NBA’s injury hardship exception, league sources told RealGM on Saturday.

With Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic, Kevin Martin and Ronny Turiaf sidelined with injuries, the Timberwolves were granted a short-term exception to sign a 16th player to their roster temporarily and decided upon Adrien.

Adrien has averaged 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds over four NBA seasons. A 6-foot-7 product who performs beyond his size with activity and athletic ferocity, he has played for Golden State, Houston, Charlotte and Milwaukee. Adrien averaged 10.9 points and 7.8 rebounds in 28 games to close the 2013-14 season with the Bucks.

Adrien, 28, went to training camp with the Rockets in October.
