The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets have engaged with the Boston Celtics on Rajon Rondo trade talks.

The Celtics have engaged on several fronts on Rondo with the Mavericks showing an increased interest. The Mavericks have a clear need at point guard.

Rondo is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason.

As of Thursday afternoon, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Mavericks have emerged as the frontrunner to trade for Rondo. Marc J. Spears reports that the Rockets are "still fighting" to acquire Rondo.

The Mavericks are offering Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder and a first round pick for Rondo.

Wojnarowski also reports that the Celtics have reached a point of no return on a Rondo trade.
