Rich Evans writes the Jazz's notebook for Tuesday's win.

"There are some things that never surprise anyone watching a Jazz game, such as John Stockton making a slick pass, Karl Malone muscling the ball inside or coach Jerry Sloan screaming at an official.

And then there are things that always surprise us, such as Greg Ostertag making a turnaround jumper.

Or an impact on a game.

Both of which happened Tuesday.

Yes, it's time to report on another Ostertag sighting, as witnessed at the Delta Center during Utah's 109-105 victory over the Houston Rockets.

A victory, one might fairly say, that probably wouldn't have happened if not for Ostertag's contributions.

Late in the third quarter the Jazz trailed by 15 when Ostertag entered the game. He'd already made a brief and undistinguished first-half appearance, so there was little reason to expect much from him."
