Another professional athlete thinks he can parlay his super-stardom into a political career.

His name: Karl Malone, whose Jazz team plays the Clippers in Los Angeles tonight.

In Friday's Salt Lake Tribune, a friend of Malone's announced that the Jazz's power forward is considering a run for governor or lieutenant governor of Utah in 2004.

"Karl has the name ID and all the money," said Don Peay, president of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife. "And I know how to implement policy."
