Spurs assistant P.J. Carlesimo has already told Gregg Popovich he'd have no problem if San Antonio obtained Latrell Sprewell. And, according to Sprewell's agent, Bob Gist, the Knicks swingman has no problems joining San Antonio, even with Carlesimo aboard.
"I've said if I were head coach and he was on my team, I could do it," Carlesimo told The Post Friday at the Boston summer league. "And I sure could do it as an assistant. He's not playing for me. He's playing for Pop. Pop and him have a great relationship."

Gist told a San Antonio newspaper the Spurs intrigue Sprewell despite his former feud with Carlesimo.

It's still surprising there seems to be a limited market for Sprewell. His contract should no longer be that much of an albatross since it only has two years left. Sprewell will make more than $13 million this season and then he can opt out. He probably wouldn't do so, considering the lower mark, unless he's sick of GM Scott Layden shopping him in a quest to make the Knicks younger.
