In order to keep pace with the top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Hornets had several off-season objectives.

No. 1: Re-sign free-agent forward P.J. Brown.

No. 2: Either re-sign free agent Jerome Moiso or find a suitable replacement on the market.

No. 3: Acquire a backup point guard.

Hornets vice president of basketball operations and general manager Bob Bass can celebrate, as he checked off all three items on his to-do list this past month.

No. 1: Brown signed a four-year, $34 million contract July 16.

No. 2: Veteran center Sean Rooks signed July 21 after Moiso had signed with the Toronto Raptors.

No. 3: Veteran point guard Darrell Armstrong signed July 29.
