The Chicago Bulls have announced that rookie forward Luol Deng will undergo surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right wrist. The surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 and will be performed by Dr. Susan Craig Scott at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

?With this being Luol?s first major injury, it is important to him that Dr. Scott perform the surgery on his wrist,? said Bulls? Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson. ?We expect he will be in a cast for six to eight weeks after the surgery, followed by three to six months of rehabilitation with our medical staff. Given Luol?s drive and work ethic, we know he will do all that is needed to successfully complete this process.?

Deng appeared in 61 games, making 45 starts, and averaged 11.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.2 apg and 27.3 mpg, while shooting .434 from the field and .741 from the free throw line.
