C.J. Giles, who was dismissed from Kansas' basketball team in November after a student said he dragged her from his apartment by her feet and hit her, has joined the Oregon State program, Beavers coach Jay John said Monday.

The 6-foot-11, 240-pound Giles will sit out this season under NCAA transfer rules and will have two years' eligibility remaining. He played two seasons at Kansas, starting 13 of 33 games in 2005-06 and averaging 6.2 points and 4.8 rebounds.

John said in a news release that Oregon State recruited Giles from Rainer Beach High School in Seattle, "so we feel like we know him very well. He understands that he has been given a second chance and I am confident he will make the most of it.''
