DeSagana Diop will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing his right Achilles tendon.

Diop suffered the injury on Dec. 31 against Golden State and tests revealed the extent of the damage on Monday.

He had been stuck on the bench for much of the last two seasons under Larry Brown, but the center had been seeing increased playing time under Paul Silas.

"He was going to get a lot of playing time. He was enthused, upbeat. It's just too bad that it had to happen at this time," Silas said. "He hadn't played a lot, but he knew he was going to play for me. It's just a shame."
