The Los Angeles Lakers have given up on the possibility of trading away Luol Deng this season. Deng has only played in one game this season as he was clearly not in the Lakers' plans.

Deng and the Lakers haven't discussed a buyout since late November.

Deng has little reason to accept a buyout as the Lakers will likely waive and stretch him this offseason. Deng has $37 million owed to him after the current season.

The Lakers signed Deng to a four-year, $72 million deal in 2016.
