The New York Knicks reached out to the Los Angeles Clippers about a potential trade for Paul George, but became hesitant after some internal discussions.

George is expected to seek a contract extension this offseason. George is due $45.6 million next season and $48.8 million the following season if he exercises his player option.

The Portland Trail Blazers also had interest in George, but decided not to pursue him.

The Clippers have "quietly" entertained discussions for George this offseason.

If the Clippers were truly motivated to trade George, it is not believed they would receive a top draft pick back for him.
