The Memphis Grizzlies today assigned rookie guard Tony Wroten to the Reno Bighorns, the Grizzlies’ NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment is the first for Wroten.
Wroten (6-6, 208, Washington) has appeared in three games for Memphis this season, averaging 2.7 minutes. Selected in the first round, 25th overall, of the 2012 NBA Draft, Wroten spent one year with the Huskies, when he averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.9 steals. For his efforts, he was named All-Pac 12 Freshman of the Year (2012).

The Utah Jazz had been planning on reassigning Kevin Murphy to the Reno Bighorns of the D-League on Monday.
But Mo Williams' injury may put the move on hold.
Murphy has played in just three of Utah's first 13 games.
The D-League has three classifications for player salaries, paying $25,500, $19,000 and $13,000 per year.
D-League teams also have a per-team salary cap of $178,000 with a dollar-for-dollar luxury tax for teams that go over.
Players also receive a per diem of $40 on the road.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce have acquired forward Mike Davis from the Erie BayHawks in exchange for center Keith Benson and guard Nick Covington. Davis was acquired by Erie from the Reno Bighorns in a separate trade earlier today.
Selected fifth overall in the 2012 NBA Development League Draft, Davis averaged 9.3 points and 6.6 rebounds in four seasons (138 games) at the University of Illinois. The 6-9, 225-pound forward earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors after averaging 12.5 points and 7.1 rebounds as a senior.
JaJuan Johnson was the first overall pick of the 2012 D-League Draft as he was selected by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
Andrew Goudelock went second to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, followed by the selection of Justin Harper by the Idaho Stampede.
Shelvin Mack was picked fourth overall by the Maine Red Claws and Mike Davis rounded out the top-five by going to the Reno Bighorns.
Christian Eyenga, a first round pick by the Cavaliers in 2009, was drafted eighth overall by the Texas Legends.
