Nets Prefer Mike Miller Over Hughes

Jan 22, 2009 10:52 AM

Instead of Larry Hughes, the New Jersey Nets have a preference to trade for Mike Miller of the Wolves, according to an NBA general manager familiar with the discussions.

Miller makes $9 million this season and $9.7 million the next. The best offer the Nets can make is a deal involving a player with a one-year contract, such as Stromile Swift, just to help the Wolves get Miller, their second-highest-paid player, off the cap next season.

Harris Reaches Out To McNabb For Advice On How To Handle Benching

Jan 20, 2009 11:35 AM

Devin Harris is still not taking his benching during Saturday's embarrassing loss to Boston very well.

Harris text messaged Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb to see how he handled his second-half benching against Baltimore. McNabb did not immediately reply.

Harris said that some people "upstairs" may not have been that happy with Frank's decision, either.

"I'm pretty sure it wasn't a positive move from everybody's standpoint," Harris said. "I'm pretty sure other people didn't like it."

Nets Actively Looking To Trade

Jan 18, 2009 7:05 AM

The New Jersey Nets are active in trade discussions according to the New York Post, yet this does not guarantee that the team will actually make a move.

"We'll be active," said GM Kiki Vandeweghe, who wouldn't specify any given area where the Nets seek an upgrade. "We'll be actively canvassing the league, calling teams. We're already doing that. You may not make a trade. In fact, the odds are probably against making a trade. But it helps you in the future because you know what teams are willing to look at."
