Anthony Davis is "tired of losing" and believes the New Orleans Pelicans finally have a roster to turn things around.
"We can't wait for the season to come and try to make some noise here in the loaded West," Davis said.
"We're doing everything, whether it's signing players, trading players ... whatever it is to just try to make sure that we try to be a winning organization," he added. "We have the tools right now to be successful. ... Right now, I think we look good on paper. So we've just got to figure it out."
The Pelicans made the playoffs in 2015 as the No. 8 seed and have missed it each of the past two seasons.
In the past six months, the Pelicans have traded for DeMarcus Cousins, re-signed Jrue Holiday and signed Rajon Rondo.
"When I first heard about Rondo, I thought it was a good situation for us," Davis said. "He knows when to get guys involved, when to make that pass."
Davis said he's supposed to meet with new assistant coach Chris Finch soon to start discussing the offensive scheme he envisions when New Orleans' top two frontcourt stars are playing together. Finch worked with Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic with the Nuggets.
Davis said the Pelicans want to emulate "how they ran their offensive package with those two bigs who are very skilled."
The New Orleans Pelicans have waived guard Quinn Cook and guard/forward Axel Toupane.
Cook, 6-2, 184, who was signed on March 19 after spending the 2016 training camp with the Pelicans, appeared in nine games last season with New Orleans, averaging 5.8 points and 1.6 assists in 12.3 minutes per game.

The New Orleans Pelicans traded for Cousins after the All-Star Game. Cousins will be a free agent in 2018.
“We’ve just tried to get in as much work as possible this summer,” Davis said from L.A. “We didn’t have that much time last season to work out with each other, because we didn’t have training camp or (many practices). So we wanted to take advantage of this opportunity, where we had time in the summer in the same city and can get in some work together, because we’ll be playing with each other a lot.
“It’s about trying to get used to each other. Of course we knew what each other can do from when we matched up against each other when he was in Sacramento, but it’s different now, learning where he likes to be and where I can get my shots from, or where he can get his shots. We didn’t want to waste training camp trying to figure that out. We’re going to both use this to be ready and try to improve the team.”
The New Orleans Pelicans plan on starting Rajon Rondo at point guard with Jrue Holiday at shooting guard.
The Pelicans are thin on the wing, which necessitates starting two traditional point guards.
Holiday has enough size and shooting to adequately play shooting guard.
Alvin Gentry said the Pelicans spoke to Holiday at length about this decision.
Rajon Rondo has agreed upon a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Rondo met with the Pelicans on Thursday and again Saturday in Atlanta before committing to a contract.
The Pelicans envision Rondo has a potential starting or reserve point guard beside Jrue Holiday. Rondo has a strong relationship with DeMarcus Cousins and Darren Erman.

The Pelicans signed Moore to a four-year, $34 million contract in 2016 while Ajinca signed a four-year, $20.2 million deal in 2015.
