The Atlanta Hawks have parted ways with Mike Budenholzer and a list of candidates has already emerged.

The Hawks are believed to be targeting a number of assistants, including Charlotte's Stephen Silas, Portland's Nate Tibbetts and David Vanterpool, San Antonio's Ime Udoka and James Borrego.

Budenholzer had been in the job with the Hawks since 2013 after replacing Larry Drew.

Sam Amick of the USA Today reports David Fizdale is also expected to be a candidate for the job.

Ime Udoka will interview with the Charlotte Hornets' coaching vacancy.

Udoka has been an assistant coach with the Spurs since 2012. Udoka had a seven-year playing career in the NBA.

Ettore Messina and David Fizdale are other strong candidates for the Hornets' job.

The Hornets fired Steve Clifford this offseason.

The Charlotte Hornets will interview David Fizdale and Ettore Messina for their head coaching vacancy in the coming days.

Fizdale was fired by the Grizzlies as head coach early this season.

Messina is currently Gregg Popovich's top assistant coach with the Spurs.

The Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic plan on interviewing Jerry Stackhouse.

Stackhouse will also interview with the New York Knicks.

Stackhouse is currently head coach of Raptors 905 of the G League.

The Charlotte Hornets have received permission from the San Antonio Spurs to interview Ettore Messina for their head coaching vacancy.

Messina worked with Mitch Kupchak when he was an assistant coach on Mike Brown's staff with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Messina has been an assistant coach with the Spurs since 2014.

The Charlotte Hornets have fired Steve Clifford as head coach.

Clifford became head coach of the Hornets before the 13-14 season.

Charlotte made the playoffs in 2014 and 2016 under Clifford.

The Hornets hired Mitch Kupchak to replace Rich Cho as general manager.

Mitch Kupchak has officially been named president and general manager of the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets elected not to renew the contract of Rich Cho in February.

"I am well aware of the passion for basketball in Charlotte and throughout the entire state of North Carolina‎, and I am confident that we can build the Hornets into a successful team that our great fans can be proud of."

Michael Jordan and Kupchak have a longstanding relationship built around their ties to the University of North Carolina and late coach Dean Smith.

The Hornets have missed the playoffs each of the past two seasons.

Kupchak was fired by the Lakers in 2017 when they hired Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka.

The Charlotte Hornets are close to a deal with Mitch Kupchak for him to become their next general manager and president of basketball operations.

The two sides have made substantial progress on a contract.

Kupchak has been the focus of owner Michael Jordan's search process to replace ex-GM Rich Cho, whose contract wasn't renewed.

Buzz Peterson will remain with the team but Kupchak will add his own personnel to the front office.

Steve Clifford and Kupchak have a relationship from their time together with the Lakers.

Kupchak was fired as general manager of the LAkers in 2017.

The Charlotte Hornets have offered their general manager position to Mitch Kupchak.

The Hornets are confident they will soon finalize a contract with Kupchak.

Kupchak was fired by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017.

The Hornets parted ways with Rich Cho in February.
