The Boston Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals with a tight, 97-92, win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon.
Paul Pierce notched 41 points on 13-for-23 shooting, out-dueling LeBron James, who had 45 points, on 14-for-29 shooting.
Kevin Garnett added 13 points and 13 rebounds and P.J. Brown tallied a season-high 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Celtics, who shot 47% and outrebounded Cleveland by eight.
Boston turned the ball over just eleven times in the victory, and withstood a furious charge by the Cavaliers in the fourth quarter.
The Celtics were a torrid 28-for-34 from the foul line, while Cleveland shot just 71% from the charity stripe.
Delonte West was the only Cavalier to help James out, posting 15 points and 5 assists in the Game Seven loss.
West and LeBron accounted for 60 of Cleveland's 92 points, while Pierce and Garnett accumulated 54 of Boston's 97.
The Cavaliers shot just 44% on the night, but kept themselves alive with some timely three-point shots, including a pair from James and a dagger by Sasha Pavlovic late in the fourth quarter.
LeBron brought the Cavs to within a point, 89-88, after stealing the ball and coasting in for a slam dunk, but Brown answered with an unlikely jumper on the other end of the floor and Cleveland never even sniffed the lead.
Fittingly, Pierce clinched the game with a pair of free throws in the final seconds to give Boston a five-point lead.
Boston will host Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals against Detroit on Tuesday night.
