Agent: Oden Interested In Signing With Cavaliers

Jan 31, 2013 12:33 PM

Greg Oden is interested in signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a free agent.

“He’s a Buckeye,” Oden’s agent, Mike Conley Sr. said. “He lives in Columbus. There’s definitely interest there.”

Conley said there is mutual interest with his client and four NBA teams, “and maybe some others will develop in the next 30 days. Who knows? There’s a few scenarios out there that make sense for him.”

Oden isn’t expected to sign a free agent deal until after the February trade deadline, but Conley left open the possibility they wait until fall.

“Our main focus is on next year or the year after and what cap space looks like during that time, who knows?” Conley said.

Varejao To Miss Remainder Of Season With Blood Clot In Lung

Jan 21, 2013 1:45 PM

Anderson Varejao recently developed a blood clot (small right lower lung pulmonary embolism) and was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic last Thursday (January 17th). He is being treated with blood thinners (anticoagulants) and is expected to stay at the Clinic for several days, while undergoing treatment and observation.

He will need to remain on blood thinning medication for approximately three months.

While Varejao is expected to fully recover, he will miss the remainder of the current Cavaliers season.

"Clearly our players' health is our top concern and we are disappointed for Anderson, and his family," said general manager Chris Grant. "We know what a competitor he is and how much he wants to be on the court helping his teammates. In the meantime, he has our full support and we look forward to welcoming him back as he recovers."
