The San Antonio Spurs have a 1-2 deficit against the Dallas Mavericks heading into Game 4.
The Mavericks have succeeded at dictating tempo and playing physical against the Spurs.
“I don’t think the guys are disrespecting Dallas because we beat them in the season four times," said Gregg Popovich. "They know it’s the playoffs. But at the same time, I’d like to see a little bit more nastiness, a little bit more physicality, a little bit more fire from people.”

The NBA issued a statement Wednesday afternoon acknowledging that officials missed a goaltend call on Jermaine O'Neal's block of Monta Ellis with 16 seconds remaining in the Golden State Warriors' 122-120 overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
“Upon review at the league office, we have found that a shot taken by Dallas’ Monta Ellis with 16.0 seconds remaining in overtime was on the way down when initially contacted and ruled a block by Golden State’s Jermaine O’Neal, and should have been ruled a goaltend," Rod Thorn said in a statement regarding the no-call. "The exact trajectory of the ball when touched was impossible to ascertain with the naked eye, and the play was not reviewable.”
The loss pushed the Mavericks out of the top eight in the Western Conference playoff picture and a half-game behind the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies.
The Dallas Mavericks believe Samuel Dalembert has turned into one of the biggest bargains from last offseason's free agency, with averages of 6.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.
Donnie Nelson said the Mavericks will "absolutely" keep Dalembert next season. Dalembert has a partially guaranteed deal for 2014-15 worth $3.8 million.
“He was the last thing on the board, so he was the only bargain,’’ Nelson said on Tuesday. “Honestly, that was one of things that (last summer) we’re looking at him and he’s looking at us.
“It’s like the prom, and we’re the last two ones standing by the wall. Well, "You want to do this thing?’’
