Pelicans Amongst More Than Six Teams Interested In Iguodala

The New Orleans Pelicans are extremely interested in signing Andre Iguodala in free agency, according to sources.

The Pelicans have already acquired his former teammate in Jrue Holiday in a draft-day trade.

Sam Amick of USA Today reports that the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors are also interested in Iguodala.

The Denver Nuggets also want to retain him and will be able to offer the best contract.

Brian Shaw Hired By Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have hired Brian Shaw as their head coach.

Shaw was most recently an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers.

Shaw has been a candidate for several head coaching positions over the past few seasons, most recently the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.

The Nuggets parted ways with George Karl this offseason after winning Coach of the Year honors.

Shaw probably won't run the Triangle offense with the Nuggets.

Brett Brown is a serious candidate for the Denver Nuggets' head coaching vacancy, according to sources.

Brown met with Josh Kroenke and new general manager Tim Connelly in Denver on Sunday.

Brown has been an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs for seven seasons. Brown is expected to become Gregg Popovich's top assistant if he stays with the Spurs following the departure of Mike Budenholzer.

Melvin Hunt has also interviewed for the position following meetings with Lionel Hollins, Brian Shaw and Vinny Del Negro.

The Denver Nuggets have named Ben Tenzer as director of team operations.

Tenzer will work closely with Josh Kroenke and general manager/executive vice president of basketball operations Tim Connelly on day-to-day operations, with a focus on salary cap management and the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Tenzer joins the Nuggets after receiving his law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. He worked for the Nuggets as an legal extern last summer, conducting detailed contract, salary cap and CBA analysis, as well as writing contracts for newly acquired and re-signed players.

The Denver Nuggets offered a first round pick to the Boston Celtics in exchange for the right to hire Doc Rivers as head coach.

Josh Kroenke made the offer for Rivers approximately 10 days ago.

The Celtics were not prepared to begin the process of discussing the deal with the Nuggets.

The Nuggets are considering Lionel Hollins and Brian Shaw for the position as their two finalists.

Rivers does not want to remain with the Celtics as they begin their rebuilding process and hopes to end up with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Josh Kroenke is convinced that the Denver Nuggets will succeed in re-signing Andre Igoudala.

''I think 100 percent,'' Kroenke said of the prospect of inking Igoudala. ''I had a good conversation with his agent last week. Andre is somebody we definitely want to bring back, and Andre is aware of our intentions to bring him back as well.''

Tim Connelly, formally introduced as Nuggets general manager on Thursday, declared re-signing Igoudala is his top priority.

"The last guy we talked to before coming in for this press conference was Andre,'' Connelly told reporters. ''He's such a pro that he's out there (on the court) working out.''
