Royce White Refers To McHale As 'Co-Worker'

Jan 24, 2013 12:21 PM

Royce White said part of the difficulty with coming to an understanding with the Houston Rockets is that Kevin McHale is not the authority on player-related decision making.

“Coach McHale doesn’t run this team,” White said in a conversation with Houston radio station KBXX. “Despite what people think, he has very little control over this team. From a basketball point, he runs it, but from a business level and from an operational level, he has very little say. He’s almost a co-worker of mine rather than an adviser or a managerial type of position. That’s one of the big issues here.”

Told of White’s assessment of their respective places on the Rockets’ organizational chart, McHale left his response at “All right.”

White plans to report to the Rockets’ D-League affiliate on Feb. 11.

Royce White, Rockets Close To Agreement On His Return

Jan 23, 2013 2:11 PM

Royce White and the Houston Rockets are closing in on a deal that would allow the rookie forward to return to the franchise and report to the Rio Grande Valley Rapids of the D-League.

The Rockets are close to making an announcement in which White would return to the team under a written agreement that includes key elements of the protocols that White wanted to have as an addendum to his contract, according to a source.

“Everybody wants to make it seem like wild, wild west standoff between me and the Rockets," White said. "That’s not the case here. There has been an issue that’s been identified. Mental health is not descriptive enough in CBA (collective bargaining agreement) and UPC (uniform player contract.) It being so vague makes us make it up as we go. There’s no protocol. We need to rectify that to make sure the environment is safe. If we’re making it up as we go, … that’s probably not the safest thing.”

Nets, Bulls Have NBA's Largest Increase/Decrease In Secondary Ticket Prices From Last Season

Jan 11, 2013 5:12 PM

With nearly half of the 12-13 NBA season, analysts have a fairly clear idea of which teams are playoff contenders and which are firmly in the lottery.

The Brooklyn Nets have the largest increase in price from last season, with a 105 percent jump from their final season in New Jersey.

The Chicago Bulls have the NBA's largest decrease at 27 percent, undoubtedly related to the injury to Derrick Rose.
