The Orlando Magic waived Adreian Payne following a report from ESPN that Michigan State mishandled a rape allegation against he and Keith Appling. The incident reportedly happened in August of 2010.

Payne was a two-way player for the Magic.

Payne appeared in five games this season for the Magic and 17 games for the Magic’s G-League team in Lakeland, including Friday night’s game in Ohio against the Canton Charge.

Nikola Vucevic has been with the Orlando Magic since 2012 and has no desire to be traded.

“I love it here,” Vucevic answered when he was asked whether he’d like to remain with the team. “I’m just disappointed that I haven’t been able to bring more wins and more joy to this franchise, to these fans. That’s the biggest disappointment for me. But other than that, everything’s been great for me here as far as how the organization treated me, how the fans treated me, my role on the team, how I’ve been able to perform. All that’s been great.

“I think if only we could get some wins, get some joy around here, it would be so much better. I always think we’re not that far away. I always think it’s like a couple of things that need to change, a couple of things that we could do to make it better. That’s why I try to stay positive. It’s not easy. A lot times when we have a bad loss, when we get a couple of losses in a row and all that, it takes a toll. You get very frustrated. But it’s never gotten to a point where I felt like I should ask to be moved.”

Vucevic will be a free agent in 2019.

Aaron Gordon, Victor Oladipo and Dennis Smith Jr. have committed to participating in the 2018 Slam Dunk Contest.

Larry Nance Jr. is a strong candidate to be the fourth contestant.

The NBA will announce the participants next week.

Donovan Mitchell is one player who had gained momentum for the contest this season but it appears he will not receive an invite.

Arron Afflalo has received a two-game suspension from the NBA for his altercation with Nemanja Bjelica.

Afflalo and Bjelica were both ejected following the incident.

Afflalo landed a punch on Bjelica.

The Orlando Magic are expected to shop Evan Fournier, Elfrid Payton and Mario Hezonja leading to February's trade deadline, according to rival executives.

Jeff Weltman was hired by the Magic last offseason and those are three players he inherited who are unlikely to remain in his plans.

The Magic have gone 4-27 after beginning the season with an 8-4 record.

Fournier signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the Magic during the 2016 offseason.

The Magic declined their 18-19 option on Hezonja in October.

The Detroit Pistons have pursued a trade for Evan Fournier this season. The Pistons would have struggled to find a workable trade without including the contract of Reggie Jackson.

Jackson is out for an extended period with a severely sprained ankle.

Luke Kennard could also be included in the package for Fournier. Fournier agreed upon a five-year, $85 million contract with the Orlando Magic in 2016.

Stan Van Gundy has been aggressive on the trade market.
