Steve Nash explained on Friday how he has no interest in becoming a ring-chaser, despite how badly he has sought a title and has a limited number of seasons remaining.

“Well, I mean I think for me, of course I want to win a ring,” Nash says. “But at the same time I’m like, ‘I don’t want to win it with those guys. Those guys have been the enemy for X amount of years.’ So I’m not quite in that camp yet — ‘I don’t care, put me on the best team and I’m going to try to win a ring.’ I still feel like kids from my neighborhood want to beat the kids from that neighborhood, like we were growing up. I’m not ready to concede, ‘Well, they’re better than us, I’ll join them.’ I’m just not there yet. Maybe I’ll get there.”

Nash did concede that reuniting with Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks would be a different type of scenario.

“I’m not saying that couldn’t happen,” Nash said.

Many around the NBA have wondered why Nash hasn't sought a trade to a contender.

“A lot of people are like, ‘Well, why don’t you ask for a trade?’ Well, you could ask for a trade and go to a team that’s in a worse position this year,” said Nash. “So I try to be thankful for what I have, great teammates, great coach, a city I’ve had a lot of success and enjoyment in, I just want to play until they tell me it’s time to move on.”

The Suns attempted to acquire Paul Millsap in a trade with Utah, but couldn't get close to coming to terms.

The Jazz now have a glut of power forwards with this week's addition of Derrick Favors.

The Rockets have traded Aaron Brooks to the Suns for Goran Dragic and a first round pick.

Brooks will be a restricted free agent this summer and lost his starting job to Kyle Lowry.

The Suns will not move Jared Dudley before today's trade deadline.

The Celtics and Bulls have been amongst the teams linked to a trade involving Dudley.

As expected, the Suns are almost certain to keep Steve Nash past Thursday's deadline.

But many executives around the NBA believe he could be made available around the draft.

Nash is signed through the 11-12 season.

The Bulls and Celtics are amongst several teams attempting to trade for Jared Dudley, according to sources.

Dudley is a beloved player within the Suns' organization and are reluctant to trade him.

The Suns have been unsuccessful in their attempts to trade forward Josh Childress, according to executives.

Phoenix signed Childress to a five-year, $33.5 million contract this past summer. He is averaging just 17 minutes per game.

The Timberwolves are one of the teams that have called the Suns to check on the availability of Steve Nash, reports Marc Stein.

Minnesota is well aware that Nash has only one year left on his contract and would likely leave after the 2011-12 season.

Phoenix isn't inclined to trading Nash and blowing up their entire roster.

The Wolves won't offer Ricky Rubio to the Suns as part of any package for Nash because their ideal scenario would be to acquire Nash as a mentor to the Spanish point guard.

Steve Nash told the Arizona Republic that comments from his agent Bill Duffy in a Marc Stein report on Friday weren't prompted by him.

"We would expect that they (the Suns) may entertain moving him during the summer" and that he and Nash are "ready" for that, said Duffy.

"Sometimes, what's said is in the context of something else," Nash said. "I haven't spoken to him about it. I expect to be here (in Phoenix). I'm happy here. I expect to be here even next year.

"I don't even think about it. I'm just happy to try to make the playoffs."

The Suns have been adamant about not wanting to trade Steve Nash, but their position may change in the summer.

"Steve is a Phoenix Sun and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say he's the face of that franchise," Bill Duffy, Nash's longtime agent, told ESPN.com this week. "But logic dictates that it would be prudent for the Suns to start looking at their long-term future in the summer, so we would expect that they may entertain moving him during the summer. We are ready for that and we anticipate a very respectful process if they decide to look at starting over with a younger core."
