Markieff Morris: I Want To Be Here With Suns

Markieff Morris backtracked from his offseason wishes to be traded during media day with the Phoenix Suns.

"I want to be here," Morris said.

Morris didn't elaborate on how has expressed unhappiness with the Suns since his brother, Marcus Morris, was traded to the Detroit Pistons.

"I'm looking forward to the season, not really trying to look at the past," Morris said. "I don't really want to talk about what I did in the summer. I really want to look forward to this up-and-coming season. Glad to be back with my teammates and glad to be back with the team."

When asked about his discord with the front office, Morris said, "It's between us and we're going to deal with it."

Lakers, Suns Also Tried To Hire Steve Nash

The Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns attempted to hire Steve Nash in a similar position in which he joined the Golden State Warriors following his acceptance of their offer.

Nash finished his career with the Lakers and spent the majority of his career with the Suns.

Nash joined the Warriors as a player development consultant.

Markieff Morris Will Report To Suns' Camp

Markieff Morris remains unhappy with the Phoenix Suns after the offseason trade of his brother, Marcus Morris, but he will report to training camp next week.

Morris was fined $10,000 for publicly demanding a trade.

The Suns have appeared to have no interest in accommodating Morris' wish for a trade.

Suns Sign Deonte Burton, Kyle Casey, Cory Jefferson, Henry Sims, Terrico White

The Phoenix Suns have signed guard Deonte Burton, forward Kyle Casey, forward Cory Jefferson, center Henry Sims and guard Terrico White, bringing the club’s roster to 18 players.

Burton, a 6-1, 190-pound guard, played with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany last season following a standout four-year career at the University of Nevada, Reno. Burton left Nevada second in Wolfpack history in career scoring (2,102) and assists (515), earning WAC Player of the Year and AP Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2012. 

Casey, a 6-7, 225-pound forward, played last season with KK Helios Suns Domzale in Slovenia after going undrafted out of Harvard University in 2014. 

Jefferson, a 6-9, 218-pound forward, played in 50 games (one start) with the Nets last season after being selected with the 60th overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft. Jefferson averaged 3.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 10.6 minutes in 2014-15, twice scoring in double-digits including his first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds against the Suns on March 6. 

Sims, a 6-10, 248-pound center, is a three-year NBA veteran who averaged 8.0 points on 47.4 percent shooting and 4.9 rebounds in 73 games (32 starts) with the 76ers last season. 

White, a 6-5, 215-pound guard, played last season with Yenisey Krasnoyarsk in Russia, averaging 11.6 points in 41 games.

Steve Nash To Join Warriors As Player Development Consultant

The Golden State Warriors are finalizing an agreement to hire Steve Nash as a part-time player development consultant.

Nash retired last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and was expected to remain part of their franchise.

Nash is familiar with Steve Kerr and Rick Welts from their time with the Phoenix Suns' organization.

Nikoloz Tskitishvili has signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Tskitishvili was the fifth overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft and hasn't played in the NBA since 2006 with the Phoenix Suns.

Tskitishvili most recently played in Lebanon.

The Suns are hopeful they will be able to reconcile with Morris.

Markieff Morris of the Phoenix Suns has been fined $10,000 for a public statement detrimental to the NBA. 

The statement concerned Morris’ desire to be traded by the Phoenix Suns.

A tweet from Morris last week said "my future is not in Phoenix."

Morris also made comments to the media that he wouldn't be with the Suns to start the season.

Morris' brother, Marcus Morris, was traded by the Suns to the Detroit Pistons this offseason.
