Nov 30, 2011 9:05 PM

Blazers president Larry Miller is hopeful that Greg Oden will play this season for the club.

But he may not be physically fit to play in games until January.

Miller said he hopes Oden will be in training camp. "Don't know how much activity he'll be able to participate in, but he should be here," Miller said.

Blazers Reach Out To Roy's Agent, No Decision Reached On Amnesty

Nov 30, 2011 9:02 PM

Blazers president Larry Miller adamantly denied a report from John Canzano of the Oregonian that the team has decided to use the amnesty clause on Brandon Roy.

"We have not, and regardless of what's been said by John Canzano and others out there, (made a) decision on amnesty as of yet," Miller said.

Miller said interim general manager Chad Buchanan called Roy's agent at 6 a.m. this morning to arrange a meeting with Roy.

"With everything that Brandon has done for this organization, there's no way we would make a decision like that without having conversation with him, without evaluating where he is," Miller said.

Blazers Expected To Use Amnesty On Roy

Nov 29, 2011 12:50 AM

The Blazers are expected to use their amnesty clause on Brandon Roy immediately.

"Brandon's out," a league executive said on Monday. "Don't know the exact details, but everyone around the league knows it's way, way done. Paul and Bert (Kolde) are calling the shots on this one."

Roy frequently played hurt and came back from injury too soon on multiple occasions in way that put his career in jeopardy.

Warriors Interested In Brandon Roy

Nov 29, 2011 12:46 AM

The Warriors would be interested in signing Brandon Roy if he is waived by the Blazers, according to sources.

Roy’s former agent, Bob Myers, is now the assistant GM for the Warriors. Roy would also prefer to stay on the West Coast.

Golden State would prefer to sign a big man, but Roy makes sense for them to add depth as a playmaker.

The Oregonian reported on Monday that the Blazers intend to use their amnesty clause on Roy immediately.

Batum Takes Game To Next Level While Abroad

Nov 25, 2011 12:09 PM

In the seven months since the Blazers' 10-11 season ended, Nicolas Batum has matured tremendously.

Batum played for the French National team at the 2011 European Championships in Lithuania and has become a lead of SLUC Nancy.

"People have shown me respect -- the coaches, the players, the refs. I've gone through some great experiences this summer with the national team and now here. When the game is on the line I want the ball. The game is in my hands. That is very good for me.

"This is different because this is my team."

Batum has taken his overall game to the next level.

"When the ball is in my hands I know I can make plays happen and just not stand in the corner and wait. When the game is on the line and the ball is in my hands I want them to trust me and know that everything is going to be okay," asserted Batum.

"The coach told me I am the boss of the team. This is my team, so I need to be vocal and I need to talk to them and regroup. At halftime I am the one who talks first. I tell guys that we need to wake up. This is our home and we need to protect (it)."

The Melbourne Tigers have released Patty Mills from his contract effective immediately, allowing him to sign with Chinese club Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers.

Tigers CEO Seamus McPeake explained that the Tigers policy is not to hold players back.

“It was a similar situation with David Barlow and Mark Bradtke. They received very lucrative offers overseas and it was in their best interests to pursue the opportunity. Patty has received a great offer and being an Olympic year we will always do what is best for him.”

Blazers 'Pause' Search For New General Manager

Nov 16, 2011 6:05 PM

The Blazers are no longer looking for a new general manager at this time.

“There’s been a decision to push the pause button on the search,” said a source.

The source also denied that the team has reached out to Donnie Nelson and Kevin O'Connor.

Portland's search has gone through multiple evolutions since Rich Cho was relieved of his duties. Most recently, the Blazers were linked to established GMs such as Geoff Petrie, O'Connor and NElson.
