Amundson And Williams Get Pink Slip In Sacramento

The Sacramento Kings have released rookie free agents Louis Amundson and Justin Williams, it was announced by Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie.

Amundson averaged 0.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in six games. Williams averaged 1.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in six outings. The Kings roster now stands at 14 players.

Brad Miller Suffers Right Hand Injury

Sacramento Kings center Brad Miller injured his right hand last night in the Kings? 117-93 preseason win over the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. An X-ray taken this afternoon revealed the injury as a small chip fracture in his fifth finger on his right hand. He is listed as day-to-day.

Bibby Out With A Mallet Thumb

After injuring his right thumb in an exhibition game Sunday night, Mike Bibby is expected to miss the first two weeks of the regular season.

Bibby has a mallet thumb, which is when a finger tendon becomes detached from a bone, preventing the finger from fully extending.

Eric Musselman had the support of his players and the Kings' owner, as well as tears in his eyes while apologizing for being arrested on Saturday morning for driving under the influence.

"First let me say that I'm sorry," Musselman said at Arco Arena. "I'm embarrassed and ashamed. I'm well aware of the seriousness of the situation. It's not representative of how I live my life and I will never take it lightly. It was a huge mistake on my behalf."

Musselman Arrested For DUI

Eric Musselman, in his first season as coach of the Sacramento Kings, was arrested on a drunken driving charge early Saturday, hours after his team's exhibition victory over the Utah Jazz.

He was released without bail from Sacramento County Main Jail at dawn, the sheriff's department said. He was cited for misdemeanor driving under the influence.

Musselman was pulled over at 2:15 a.m. about 1? miles from the State Capitol after his car was seen making a right-hand turn from the left-hand lane and cutting off another vehicle, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Evan Williams.

Artest Hoping For Rap Respect With New Album

Ron Artest has a new rap album coming out on October 31st and is looking to repair the perception of his character.

"I've got music to be heard," he said. "Obviously, some people will judge me from my past. But I can make music. I want everyone to know about my life and relate to me, and see that I'm very approachable and easygoing.

"People don't understand that my street credibility is a whole lot bigger than most in the industry today," Artest said. "If I had more push, then everyone will see the results."

Suns Torch Kings With 43-Point Third Quarter

Shawn Marion and Steve Nash sparked Phoenix's 43-point third quarter and the Suns rallied to beat the Sacramento Kings 111-94 on Thursday night.

After trailing by three points at halftime following a 10-point second quarter, the fast-breaking Suns (2-2) got their offense into gear in the third period and emerged with an 85-72 lead. Marion, who had only six points in the first half, scored 14 in the decisive period, capping his burst with a 3-pointer just before the buzzer.

Nash, the NBA's two-time most valuable player, had 11 points and five assists in the quarter.

Bibby Back Down To College Weight

Mike Bibby is assuming a larger role as a leader of the Kings and is also prepared to commit on the defensive end.

Over the summer, he lost 15 pounds and it is helping his quickness.  Bibby now weighs 185 pounds, his playing weight in college at the University of Arizona.

Christies Reality Show Launches Tonight, Howard Stern Makes Jackie Cry

Doug and Jackie Christie are back in the limelight once again.

Aside from running a boutique-style fashion design and clothing company, raising three children and attempting to restart Doug's injury-plagued NBA career, the couple is starring in a reality TV series that's scheduled to debut Thursday on BET J.

Additionally, the couple were on the Howard Stern Show to promote their reality series when Stern posed a challenging question to Doug.

Stern laid out a scenario where Christie, his wife and his mother were kidnapped and Doug could only save one of the beloved women in his life.

After some deliberation, Doug selected his mother, which prompted Jackie to well up with tears on the show's set.

Following the segment, Stern said that Jackie refused to speak to her husband after they were off the air.

Kings Sign Maurice Taylor

The Sacramento Kings signed veteran forward Maurice Taylor on Tuesday.

Taylor, who spent the past 1 1/2 years with the New York Knicks, averaging 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds last season. He has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets in a nine-year NBA career.

Kings coach Eric Musselman expects to use Taylor as a backup center behind Brad Miller.
