Fred Jones has become a hot commodity because of his expiring contract, Frank Isola of the New York Daily News writes, with Sacramento being one team which has expressed interested in the high jumping shooting guard.
According to Isola, the Kings would be willing to trade newly acquired point guard Tyronn Lue to New York.
According to the Sacramento Bee the Spurs are closing in on a deal for Ron Artest.
The Spurs would send the expiring contracts of Francisco Elson and Brent Barry for Artest and possibly include a draft pick.
It is also believed, however, that Denver may be ready to part ways with Linas Kleiza for Artest.
Houston also reportedly had conversations with the Kings about Artest.
According to a source, the Cavaliers were close to acquiring Mike Bibby in a package that would have sent Drew Gooden, Ira Newble, and Shannon Brown to Sacramento.
The Kings decided to turn their attention strictly to expiring contracts.
A Denver source said he would 'bet against' the Nuggets making a trade for Ron Artest ahead of Thursday's deadline.
The fact that Artest can opt out after the season and the upside of Linas Kleiza makes the trade less tempting to Denver.
"It's kind of flattering," Kleiza said of the trades being discussed that include him. "But you've got to stay focused. There are a lot of rumors. I'm here and hope to stay here a long time."
The Pacers are fielding offers for Jermaine O'Neal once again and have reportedly spoken to Golden State, New Jersey and Sacramento about the All-Star forward, according to The Indianapolis Star.
O'Neal can opt out of his contract at the end of the season, negating the final two years of his deal with Indiana.
According to the New York Post, the Knicks and Nuggets have had discussions about a multi player deal that would involve Zach Randolph, but according to the report it is not likely to happen.
The Knicks are hoping to land Linas Kleiza in return, but do not appear to have the assets to make the deal happen.
The Knicks have also reportedly offered Eddy Curry for Ron Artest, but Isiah Thomas wants Sacramento to take Jerome James also. Randolph has also been offered to New Jersey for Vince Carter.
The Philadelphia 76ers are interested in Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest, but sources close to both teams don't expect the interest to amount to anything, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
If Artest is traded, it appears as though Denver is the most likely destination as the deadline draws near.
Sources close to the Nuggets have indicated that talks have resumed with the Kings in regards to Ron Artest.
The Kings want Linas Kleiza and likely Eduardo Najera's expiring contract, as well.
"I don't know anything about that," Geoff Petrie said. "I've talked to Denver periodically over the last month or so, but there's nothing like that floating out there that I know of. We don't have anything else going of any real significance (on Saturday), but I'm sure there will be some other conversations over the next five days."
According to ESPN, Ron Artest is saying he is no longer looking for a trade from the Sacramento Kings.
"I am anxious to see what my future holds, [but] I like Sac," Artest wrote in an e-mail. "My entire focus is with Sac and winning a championship this year."
