The Sacramento Kings were left "steaming" when the Los Angeles Lakers pivoted away from trade discussions centered on Buddy Hield and executed a deal for Russell Westbrook.

The Kings had no idea the Lakers were even competing for a Westbrook deal.

The parameters of the deal centered on Hield for Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell.

“I was kind of shocked because I thought I was going to Sac,” Kuzma recently said on the “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” podcast. “The Sacramento deal, with Buddy Hield, that [expletive] was done.”

The Sacramento Kings have signed guard Matt Coleman III to a non-guaranteed training camp deal. Coleman went undrafted at the 2021 NBA Draft out of Texas.

In five Las Vegas Summer League contests, Coleman averaged 6.6 points, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 13 minutes per game.

Coleman was a four-year starter for the Longhorns, as he started all 128 games he played in. As a senior, the 6'2'' point guard averaged 13.2 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals.

The Sacramento Kings have agreed to a training camp deal with forward Emanuel Terry. Terry's deal will be non-guaranteed. If he's waived following the preseason, he could join the Stockton Kings as an Affiliate Player.

Terry has previously played in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat on two separate 10 Day contracts. Terry joined the Kings for 2021 Summer Leagues in Sacramento and Las Vegas. He averaged 7.2 points and 8.6 rebounds in five games for the Summer Kings.

The 6'9'' forward played for the Agua Caliente Clippers during the 2021 G-League bubble. He played 15 games (all starts) for the Clippers and averaged 10.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Terry has also played overseas with teams in Turkey, Israel and Serbia.

The Sacramento Kings are unlikely to include either De'Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton in an offer to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons.

The 76ers would almost certainly require one of those two players to be included in a package for Simmons.

Sacramento would prefer to build a trade package around Buddy Hield, Marvin Begley III and other assets such as first round picks.

Fox is entering the first season of a five-year, $163 million extension with the Kings.
