The Sacramento Kings are likely to trade Richaun Holmes this coming offseason.

Sources tell the Sacramento Bee that the Kings worked to trade Holmes leading right up to the deadline earlier this month.

The Kings re-signed Holmes on a four-year, $46.5 million deal that includes a 15 percent trade kicker. The Kings, however, traded for Domantas Sabonis shortly before the deadline.

Tyrese Haliburton: I Was Really, Really, Really All In On Sacramento

Feb 15, 2022 9:16 AM

Now Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton penned a piece for The Players' Tribue that outlined his thoughts on being traded from the Sacramento Kings. Haliburton didn't hesitate to share he never wanted to leave Sacramento.

Haliburton wrote, "I really, really, really was all in on Sacramento. And I wasn’t shy about it. I would tell people, straight up, “I want to be that next C-Webb for this city.” That was my whole mindset. I wanted to become one of those players who got drafted somewhere and built a legacy — on and off the court. I wanted to become someone the people of Sacramento knew was in their corner."

Haliburton wrote about being in disbelief when his agent first told him he might be getting traded. He talked about how the whole process took him "From “no way” to traded in 30 minutes. I’ve literally waited in line at Cold Stone for longer than that."

Despite being upset to leave Sacramento, Haliburton said he's excited to be in Indiana, which is closer to his hometown of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Haliburton also wrote that he's looking forward to winning with the Pacers and that he's "Coming to Indiana to leave my imprint, and to help this team do something special. I’m coming here to create a legacy that makes Pacers fans proud."

Lakers Explored Trading Russell Westbrook To Kings For Buddy Hield

Feb 11, 2022 3:24 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers explored trading Russell Westbrook to the Sacramento Kings in a package that would have included Buddy Hield, sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Amick reported in January that the Lakers had "covertly" explored potential Westbrook trades as his integration into the team hadn't gone as well as they had hoped.

The Lakers were close to a trade for Hield in the offseason before they pivoted to a larger deal with the Washington Wizards for Westbrook.

The Kings eventually traded Hield along with Tyrese Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers for Domantas Sabonis. The Lakers, meanwhile, were unable to trade Westbrook. They reportedly had an opportunity to trade Westbrook to the Houston Rockets for John Wall, but that would have required sacrificing their 2027 first round pick.

Kings Approached Hawks On John Collins Trade Leading To Deadline

Feb 11, 2022 12:31 PM

The Sacramento Kings approached the Atlanta Hawks about a potential trade for John Collins, but did not discuss the inclusion of either Tyrese Haliburton or De'Andre Fox, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

Haliburton and Fox were Sacramento's best two trade chips heading into the deadline period, but the presence of Trae Young would complicate that return for the Hawks.

The Kings instead shifted to a Haliburton for Domantas Sabonis deal while the Hawks decided to retain Collins.

The Hawks made their deadline move in January by receiving a first round pick for Cam Reddish.

Marvin Bagley To Pistons, Donte DiVincenzo To Kings, Bucks Get Serge Ibaka In Four-Team Trade

Feb 10, 2022 4:41 PM

The Sacramento Kings have agreed to trade Marvin Bagley III to the Detroit Pistons as part of a four-team trade. Detroit has long been linked with a deal for Bagley, who was picked second overall in 2018 and has had a disappointing tenure with the Kings.

The Kings will acquire Donte DiVincenzo from the Milwaukee Bucks. Sacramento will also acquire Josh Jackson and Trey Lyles from the Pistons.

Milwaukee will acquire Serge Ibaka from the Los Angeles Clippers. With Brook Lopez out with a back injury, the Bucks needed to upgrade the center position.

The Kings previously tried to acquired DiVincenzo as part of the proposed Bogdan Bogdanovic sign-and-trade with the Bucks.

The Clippers will receive Semi Ojeleye and Rodney Hood from the Bucks.

James L. Edwards III reports the Pistons hope to sign Bagley to a multiyear deal in the offseason. Bagley will likely have a qualifying offer of $7.2 million as a restricted free agent. Troy Weaver had Bagley on his wish list since joining the Pistons in 2020.

Pacers Trade Domantas Sabonis To Kings For Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield

Feb 9, 2022 2:37 PM

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to trade Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings for a package centered on Tyrese Haliburton.

The Pacers are including Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday and a 2027 second-round pick in exchange for Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson.

The Sacramento backcourt is now less crowded in De'Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell.

Indiana was poised to split up their big man pairing of Sabonis and Myles Turner this season. Sabonis was widely considered to have significant more trade value than Turner.

The Pacers previously traded Caris LeVert and now have a revamped backcourt of Haliburton, Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Duarte.

"The league was stunned at this trade," said Adrian Wojnarowski on NBA Today. Wojnarowski added that other teams didn't realize Halburton was available.

"I'm told he was stunned today," said Wojnarowski of Haliburton.

Haliburton is represented by Aaron Mintz of CAA, who also represents former Indiana All-Star Paul George.

Sabonis is represented by Jason Ranne and Greg Lawrence of Wasserman. Ranne also represents former Sacramento guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.
