Tim Duncan Enjoys This Season More As Career 'Winding Down'

Apr 29, 2015 12:44 PM

Tim Duncan totaled 21 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the San Antonio Spurs' Game 5 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday.

Duncan is enjoying this season.

"It's just a realization of mortality, I guess," Duncan said. "I know my time is winding down so I'm enjoying it more."

Doc Rivers criticized the officiating after Game 5 but changed his tone when discussing Duncan.

"He's a consummate pro," Rivers said. "He never gets too high or low. It's like he's the easy button they have on that old [Staples] commercial. He's their easy button. You knew tonight he was going to come and play. On nights where they don't need him, he's cool with that, too."

Tony Parker Optimistic Achilles Will Be Okay For Game 3

Apr 23, 2015 12:46 PM

Tony Parker left the San Antonio Spurs' Game 2 win at the Los Angeles Clippers in the fourth quarter with an Achilles injury.

Parker was seen limping after the game, but he expects to play in Game 3.

"It's been a tough year, but I think I'll be all right," said Parker.

Parker said the injury was the same as that which he suffered in a game in Oklahoma City on April 7.

"Same thing, same thing," he said. "I think I put too much pressure on the right ankle because of the soreness in my left ankle."

Doc Rivers: Players Want To Be Like Mike, Coaches Want To Be Like Pop

Apr 19, 2015 4:12 PM

Doc Rivers talked about how much he admires Gregg Popovich ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers' first round series against the San Antonio Spurs.

"I think every coach in the league wants to be like Pop," Rivers said. "Players want to be like Mike. We want to be like Pop."

Rivers nearly replaced Popovich as head coach of the Spurs in 1999. The Spurs had started the lockout-shortened season slowly and there was pressure to fire Popovich and hire Rivers, who was a member of their broadcast team.

Said Avery Johnson: "There was a lot of noise about Pop being potentially replaced by Doc."

The Spurs turned around their season and eventually won the Finals.

"The only talk I had back then was I made sure I wasn't a part of all that bulls---," Rivers told ESPN.com on Saturday. "I don't think it was as close as people thought it was. Maybe it was. I've read that it was. I tried to stay out of it."
