Jazz Looking To Add 'A Sniper At Any Position' In Offseason

Apr 28, 2019 8:45 PM

The Utah Jazz will be looking to add more offensive firepower in the offseason.

“Adding a sniper at any position is something we're going to have to strongly evaluate,” said general manager Dennis Lindsey.

Lindsey added that he wants Derrick Favors to be part of the "solution" going forward.

Ricky Rubio's future remains up for discussion.

“A lot of friends have asked me, 'Yo, where are you gonna play next year? Can I come visit?' I honestly have no idea. But one thing I’m gonna look [at] for sure is the best situation for me, with the coach and the team. … I want to be happy. I’m gonna try to find the best situation for me to perform and be happy," said Rubio.

Lindsey also discussed the difficulty of bringing free agents to the team, saying they want more money to play for the Jazz.

“We’ve had a lot of guys that have wanted to come. But, you know, they want $18 million and they’re worth six," he added.

Tobias Harris Expected To Receive Interest From 76ers, Grizzlies, Jazz, Mavs, Nets

Apr 26, 2019 4:17 PM

Tobias Harris is expected to receive significant interest in free agency this offseason.

While the Philadelphia 76ers will attempt to re-sign Harris following their midseason acquisition, the Memphis Grizzlies, Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets are also expected to pursue Harris.

“It would be selfish of me to not come into this situation with an open mind to make this work for the long term,” Harris told The Athletic in March. “That’s where my mindset is at. I’m a loyal guy to where I am, and if I feel that loyalty back, that is how I operate. For me, it’s just making it work here and figuring out how it will go. So far, it’s been really good. Gotta show that loyalty.”

Kyle Korver Says He's 'Never Been Around A Young Player Like Donovan Mitchell'

Apr 22, 2019 1:33 AM

Kyle Korver defended Donovan Mitchell's playoff performance against the Houston Rockets, saying that he's never seen a young player accept his leadership responsibility like Mitchell has.

Mitchell is shooting just 32.8% from the field and 63.6% from the free throw line against the Rockets. He missed a potential game-tying 3 pointer as the Jazz went down 3-0 in the series.

After Korver wrapped up his post-game interview following their loss, he called the media back to discuss what he sees in Mitchell.

“I have never been around a young player like Donovan Mitchell. I have never seen someone so young take ownership of a team, take ownership of his play, do it with charisma, do it with class. Never seen that in my 16 years in the NBA. He missed a tough shot tonight, but it’s going to be part of his story. If you’ve played any meaningful basketball in the NBA, you have a shot like that. If you don’t that means you haven’t played in any meaningful games or you haven’t been trusted by your teammates and coaches to take that shot. I don’t care who it is in history, everyone has a shot they want back. This is going to be part of the story at the end of the day. For a young guy, 21 years old or whatever he is, that’s really special. He is on a great path in the NBA. At the end of the day, this is just going to be part of his story, part of his journey. He’s just going to keep building on it," said Korver.
