Jackson Wants To Enter HOF As Bull, Laker

Jan 31, 2010 5:18 PM

Lakers coach Phil Jackson has spent one more season with the team than he did with the Bulls, but he still wants to represent both clubs when he enters the Hall of Fame.

"My own personal (opinion," Jackson said, "I'd have to have a jacket with both sides -- one side Lakers, the other side Bulls."

He won six titles with Chicago and has four with Los Angeles thus far.

Gray: Bulls Never Gave Me A Chance

Jan 30, 2010 4:47 PM

Aaron Gray is happy to have been traded to the Hornets, saying that the Bulls never gave him a chance to produce.

Chicago dealt Gray to New Orleans in exchange for Devin Brown.

"Definitely better," the center said. "I definitely feel like I'm gonna have an opportunity. I'm gonna have to work and earn those minutes, but I feel like I'm fighting for something here.

"Over there [with the Bulls], there was just no opportunity no matter what. They showed me that in the Houston game."

Gray began the season on the inactive list after suffering a stress fracture in his lower left leg.

"I'm still battling with my conditioning and getting back to 100 percent," he said. "But in the last few weeks I've actually felt great and, hopefully, now it'll benefit the Hornets and not the Bulls."

Bulls May Have Reservations About Dealing For Stoudemire

Jan 27, 2010 6:26 AM

The Bulls have been listed in reports as one of the teams with serious interest in Suns forward Amar'e Stoudemire, but the Chicago Tribune doesn't see a fit.

K.C. Johnson writes that last season the Bulls had "reservations over acquiring Stoudemire, who will seek a maximum contract at a time questions remain about his defensive play and recovery from microfracture surgery on his knee."

Chicago could have very well acquired Stoudemire last season, and assured themselves of having him for at least 1 1/2 seasons, but they opted against it.

The club will certainly entertain the idea, but Johnson points out that the Bulls aren't likely a "serious" suitor.

Jerome James Could See Game Action

Jan 26, 2010 2:05 PM

The Bulls traded center Aaron Gray to the Hornets on Monday, which could pave the way for Jerome James to play some minutes.

James is relatively healthy after recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.

Mike McGraw of the Herald writes that, "[James] was still preparing to pass one last fitness test to gain clearance to play."

James has only appeared in four games since the start of the 2007-08 season.

Hornets Trade Brown To Bulls For Gray

Jan 25, 2010 4:20 PM

The Hornets have traded guard Devin Brown to the Bulls in exchange for center Aaron Gray, according to front office sources.

The trade is expected to become official later on Monday.

New Orleans nearly traded Brown to Minnesota in December, but the deal could not satisfy salary-cap requirements unless Brown agreed to waive a portion of the trade kicker in his contract.

The deal will give the Hornets a small amount of luxury-tax savings, but it also gives them an extra big man off the bench in Gray.

The Hornets will have to make at least one more trade before the Feb. 18 trading deadline to get under the league's $69.9 million luxury-tax threshold.

Bulls May Put Thomas In Starting Lineup

Jan 13, 2010 7:11 AM

The Bulls might move forward Tyrus Thomas into the starting lineup as rookie Taj Gibson battles a foot injury.

Chicago disclosed on Tuesday that Gibson has been battling plantar fasciitis in his left foot for much of this season.

"He's feeling better, but the plantar fasciitis has bothered him and he needs some treatment," coach Vinny Del Negro said of Gibson. "He just really irritated it the other night in a game."

Thomas would reclaim the starting power forward spot if Gibson can't go on Thursday night against the Celtics.

He lost the spot when he injured his forearm and Gibson's strong play kept Thomas from regaining it upon his return.

"Tyrus played well (Monday against the Pistons) and had a good practice (Tuesday) too," Del Negro said. "He was under control. I loved his activity."

Rockets Like T-Mac Deals With Wizards, Bulls

Jan 12, 2010 12:54 PM

The Rockets are in discussions with several clubs about Tracy McGrady, and sources say two of the teams near the top of their wish list are Washington and Chicago.

The Wizards could have McGrady for a deal featuring Caron Butler and some expiring contracts, perhaps Mike Miller and Randy Foye.

Chicago, which has definite interest in McGrady, also has the combination of young talent and expiring contracts the Rockets are looking for.
