Windhorst: LeBron James Has 'Warrior Paranoia'

Nov 27, 2015 12:49 PM

ESPN's Brian Windhorst believes LeBron James has "Warrior Paranoia."

James has been more concerned with winning regular season games this season than he has in the past as the Golden State Warriors have started 16-0.

James held a players-only meeting after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost on Wednesday to the Toronto Raptors.

"I really think that the Warriors have had an effect on him. It's interesting. I've never seen this before."

Cavaliers Hold Players-Only Meeting After Loss To Raptors

Nov 26, 2015 10:36 AM

The Cleveland Cavaliers held a players-only meeting following a 103-99 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

LeBron James and James Jones got on the team for its inconsistent play during their 11-4 start to the season.

"It's all mindset," James said after the game, still visibly frustrated. "It comes from within. I've always had it; my upbringing had me like that. It's either you got it or you don't."

David Blatt absolved the Cavaliers of any fault after the game, but James rejected the softer stance.

LeBron James: We've Taken Downplaying Of Eastern Conference Personally

Nov 24, 2015 6:43 PM

LeBron James has been sensitive to how the Eastern Conference has been downgraded in the views of the public and the media.

There had been brief conversations about changing the playoff format to counter the imbalance between conferences.

"There's always been a conversation," James said. "Obviously our conference has always been downplayed the last couple years and we've kind of taken it personal."

The Eastern Conference is trying to rewrite the narrative this season.

Eleven of the 15 teams in the Eastern Conference have a record of .500 or better.

"I think from a collective group of all 15 teams, trying to just hold our end of the bargain and not be the sought-after conference," James said pointedly. "The Western Conference respect us, and glad to be on this side and see so many great teams, so many teams doing well."

LeBron: Warriors Are Healthiest Team In NBA History

Nov 23, 2015 1:17 PM

LeBron James believes the Golden State Warriors' success has been greatly helped by their fortune when it comes to avoiding injuries.

"I think it comes with a lot of health," James said. "They've been healthy. They've been the most healthy team I've ever seen in NBA history, and they have great talent. Those guys all play for one common goal and that's to win and that's all that matters."

James said that continuity in the lineup has led to consistency in their play.

"They've just been consistent," James said. "I think the most impressive thing is the way they just they've been playing at a high level, man, for so long."

Kyrie Irving (left knee), Iman Shumpert (right wrist), Timofey Mozgov (right shoulder) and Mo Williams (right ankle) all sidelined.

"I'd much rather be on the other side and having guys in the lineup, having guys healthy," James said. "I've always heard that saying of, 'Is it a blessing that guys are out and guys can step in?' I think it's good for some of the guys that don't get to play as much -- they get an opportunity. But at the same time, I'd much rather be full and know what we're going to have and play at a high level for most of the year so we know what we can fall back on at the end of the season.

"But that's one thing you can't control. You can't control injuries. The one thing you can control is what you're doing out on the floor, how well you're playing, how hard you're playing and how much you're sacrificing and giving to your teammates."

J.R. Smith Accused Of Choking 19-Year-Old

Nov 20, 2015 9:59 PM

J.R. Smith has been accused of choking a 19-year-old high school student in New York City.

According to the Daily News, which cited police sources, Smith allegedly confronted the teen, Justin Brown, after Brown heckled Smith for being traded by the New York Knicks.

The alleged incident occurred at about 4 a.m. ET on Nov. 13, outside Artichoke Basille's Pizza, not far from the popular lounge 1 OAK.

Police sources told the Daily News that Brown alleged that Smith, 30, "checked him against the exterior of the building and put his hands around Brown's neck."

Smith's attorney, Alex Spiro, called the allegations "absolutely false."

"We don't believe he's going to be charged," Spiro told ESPN.

"We are aware of the story and have spoken to J.R. about it," David Griffin said. "J.R.'s attorney has issued a statement on the matter and there will be no further comment from the team on this at this point."

Kyrie Irving Cleared For Intensive Weight-Bearing Activities

Nov 14, 2015 5:51 PM

Kyrie Irving has been cleared for intensive weight-bearing activities as he works his way back from a fractured kneecap.

Irving suffered the injury during Game 1 of The Finals in June.

David Blatt stated on Thursday that Irving still has "a ways to go."

Once Irving is permitted to practice, a week of full practice sessions with no setbacks is what the team needs to see before he's allowed to make his season debut.

Irving's recovery timetable was scheduled for 3-4 months and he's now been out over five months.
