The Milwaukee Bucks have suspended Samuel Dalembert one game for a violation of team policy.

Dalembert will be a free agent this offseason as he is in the final season of his deal with a $6.7 million salary.

A source tells Yahoo's Marc J. Spears that Dalembert is not a candidate for a buyout.

Dalembert's suspension was due to tardiness.

John Hammond traded for J.J. Redick in part to help Milwaukee solidify its playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

"This comes down to us trying to win; us trying to remain competitive," Hammond said. "We're hoping to get an uptick from this. We haven't been playing quite as well lately and we're hoping we can at least solidify this eight-spot. We'd like to move up, try to get the seven, the six ... whatever we can do. This, for us, trying to get a piece like J.J. is about us trying to win games."

Redick and Brandon Jennings will be free agents this summer, while Monta Ellis has a player option for 2013-14.

Hammond said the Bucks will have enough room under the cap to pursue all three players.

"The great thing is we're in a position where we can address issues like that," he said. "We have no financial restrictions as we move forward in that regard. We're going to be under the cap, we could be significantly under the cap."

The Atlanta Hawks have decided not to trade Josh Smith after several weeks of attempts with a host of teams.

The Hawks appeared to get the closest to an agreement on a trade with the Bucks on Smith.

Atlanta would have received Ekpe Udoh, Luc Mbah a Moute, Beno Udrih and a protected No. 1 pick from the Bucks for Smith, according to Ric Bucher.

Smith will be a free agent in the offseason and is unlikely to re-sign with the Hawks.

The Hawks also discussed a deal with the Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics.

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired J.J. Redick from the Orlando Magic, according to a source.

The Bucks will send Doron Lamb, Tobias Harris and Beno Udrih to the Magic.

The Hawks have been extremely motivated to trade Smith, scouring the NBA for the best deal.

The Nets, Celtics and Suns have also been involved in Smith talks.

David Aldridge reports that the Nets are also involved, but the Bucks are considered the favorites if a deal is agreed upon.

The Suns, according to Sam Amick, do not expect to trade for Smith.

Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh are amongst the players discussed that would go the Hawks for Smith and Devin Harris.

Sources tell ESPN's Chris Broussard that Ellis would not be included in a deal for Smith.

The Dallas Mavericks are interested in trading with Milwaukee Bucks for Beno Udrih.

The Mavericks are on the market for point guard help.

The Bucks are likely to keep Udrih until the approach of the deadline.
