Ginobili Out At Least One More Game

Nov 25, 2009 8:07 AM

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will miss at least one more game as he deals with a strained left groin.

"Manu's out," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of Wednesday's game prior to the team's Tuesday practice. "He's doing workouts, doing what he needs to do to rehab it every day, so it's getting better every day, but it's going to take more time. When he's ready, he'll play."

According to the original timetable, Ginobili should return by the end of the week.

Ginobili: Spurs Aren't Playing Good Ball

Nov 18, 2009 3:22 PM

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili isn't happy with the way the team is playing right now.

"I don't think we're playing good at all," said Ginobili. "Frustrating is not the word. It's disappointing."

San Antonio is 4-4 through their first eight games.

Surprisingly, newcomer Richard Jefferson isn't worried about the team's start.

"A good start, a slow start, it doesn't matter," said Jefferson. "You've got 70-something games left to prove who you are."

Ginobili Says His Hamstring Isn't An Issue

Nov 17, 2009 4:09 PM

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili didn't want to come out in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's game against the Thunder.

"I think I'm ready," Ginobili said. "I've got to convince, as always, Mr. Popovich."

Ginobili has been playing through a stiff hamstring and has been limited in practice. San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich didn't think that the guard looked right in the second half against Oklahoma City.

"I didn't even have a shot to try to convince him," Ginobili said of Popovich's decision to bench him in the crucial minutes.

"He just sat me. I never said my hamstring was hurting. I never said I wanted to rest. He just thought it was the best option, and he went for it. He's the one who decides who's in and who's out."

Ginobili Nearing End To Rabies Shots

Nov 17, 2009 7:54 AM

Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has just one more rabies shot left to complete his cycle.

Ginobili was forced to get a round of rabies shots after capturing a bat on the court during a game against the Kings on Oct. 31.

He received his most recent injection on Monday.

"Of course, I will (be happy when it's over)," Ginobili said. "It's a different experience. I never thought basketball related to rabies, but in some ways, it does. I don't like getting shots, but it's something I've got to do and leave it behind."

The guard will have his final shot next week.

Hamstring Could Hamper Ginobili

Nov 15, 2009 6:10 PM

An injured hamstring could cause Spurs guard Manu Ginobili to miss some time.

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich held Ginobili out of the fourth quarter against Oklahoma City on Saturday night because of the strain.

He missed practice time on Thursday and Friday because of the hamstring.

"I didn't keep him out because of his knee," Popovich said after the game. "I kept him out because of a hamstring that's been tight. I just thought it would be best to be conservative than to have that hamstring be worse and lose him for a long period."

Ginobili, a tremendous competitor, disagreed with Popovich.

"Of course, I always want to play in the fourth quarter, but Pop made a decision and stuck with it," he said. "(The hamstring) is not worse than the game before. It's actually better."
