Calderon Aiming For Free Throw Record

Jan 30, 2009 8:22 AM

Toronto point guard Jose Calderon enters Friday night's game against Milwaukee eleven away from breaking the NBA's record for most consecutive free throws made.

Minnesota's Michael Williams set the record sixteen years ago by making 97 straight foul shots.

"It says a lot, it says something about his character, it shows how hard he's been working," said Raptors captain Chris Bosh. "He's come a long way, he didn't get drafted, and I know not many people expected him to be a good basketball player. He's really turned the corner."

Jermaine Smiling About Trade Rumors

Jan 28, 2009 11:43 PM

Jermaine O'Neal smiled when he was asked about trade rumors on Wednesday night by Ken Berger.

"I'm just trying to get healthy, which has been the big issue for me the last couple of years," O'Neal said. The trade talk, he said, "Doesn't bother me at all."

Is Toronto Thinking Of Keeping Jermaine?

Jan 26, 2009 5:17 PM

The Raptors have moved Jermaine O'Neal to the bench, and GM Bryan Colangelo must decide before the Feb. 19 trade deadline if he's willing to keep him there.

"There's always a chance," O'Neal said of possibly being moved.

O'Neal played just 22 minutes against Sacramento on Sunday night as he teamed with Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani to dominate the paint.

"He's a veteran player," Coach Jay Triano said of O'Neal. "He'll come off the bench and still contribute for us. I like our rotation right now."

Riley Doesn't Deny Marion-For-O'Neal Rumors

Jan 23, 2009 4:47 PM

Miami president Pat Riley has done little to discourage rumors that the Heat could send Shawn Marion to the Raptors for Jermaine O'Neal.

"I value Shawn Marion immensely," Riley said. "He is a tremendous player. I'm sorry this is going on right now, but that's the NBA business."

There have been reports that the Heat have requested medical records about O'Neal.

"I could have made the same request to five other teams also," Riley said. "That's just the normal process."

Dwyane Wade, Miami's star, shrugged off any talk of a major trade.

"No one is coming in today to save the day," Wade said. "This is my team. I have to continue to lead this team. I'm not worried about who's not here. I'm worried about who's here."

Calderon Could Return Against Bulls

Jan 23, 2009 2:07 PM

Toronto point guard Jose Calderon could return to the floor on Friday night when the team takes on Chicago.

Calderon has missed the majority of the team's past 12 games. He left the Jan. 2 game against the Rockets because of a strained right hamstring and made a comeback attempt Jan. 11 against the Celtics.

"I was sore this morning a bit so lets see how I am tomorrow," Calderon cautioned on Thursday.

The Raptors and their point guard are aware of the risks of an early comeback.

"That's why you can't know 100%. You're wondering 'is it going to happen again?' It's more mental."

Jermaine On Trade Talks: It's Part Of The Business

Jan 22, 2009 9:08 PM

Jermaine O'Neal is trying to stay upbeat despite the Raptors' struggles and their attempts to trade him.

?It's part of the business,? he said. ?My concern to stay healthy. If I'm healthy I can be very, very, very effective on both ends of the floor. You just need to do what you can do, handle what you can handle, and when a team says they have different plans, they have different plans.?
