Kirilenko Clears Air About Trade Rumors With O'Connor

Oct 29, 2010 12:26 AM

Andrei Kirilenko is not expecting to be traded after several seasons of rumors sending him to a multitude of destinations.

"I spoke with (Utah general manager) Kevin O'Connor, and he always said, 'Like, look, don't worry about that. It's all rumors. We're not trying (to trade Kirilenko),''' Kirilenko said in an interview with FanHouse. "I don't have any doubts, Kevin, his words ... (The talk was) about everything. About all the rumors. So I don't have any doubts. Even if it (a trade) happens, I understand business is business. No hard feelings. I've had a great time (in Utah).''

Jazz Unlikely To Trade Kirilenko

Oct 23, 2010 5:00 PM

The Jazz have a significant trade chip in Andrei Kirilenko's $17.8 million expiring contract, but they appear unlikely to move it.

Other teams might show interest in Kirilenko's contract, but Utah general manager Kevin O'Connor likes continuity.

"The way Andrei has played for us in the past and the way he played in the preseason, he's a real key to our team," O'Connor said. "He really competes."

Last season the Jazz had the expiring contract of Carlos Boozer, but they opted to hold onto him.

Deron Williams Doesn't See Himself Leaving Jazz

Oct 22, 2010 4:35 PM

A number of the NBA's top young stars have either switched teams or requested a move recently, but Deron Williams isn't among them.

"I just want to win," Williams said. "My team has been winning, for the most part. Last year we got eliminated early, but we just got to get better. We got some pieces to do that. I'm happy right now.

"I'm under contract. I honor that contract, respect that contract and just play basketball. I'm never going to say never. [But] I don't see that happening."

Williams is under contract through the 2011-12 season, and has a $17.8 million option for 2012-13 that could be hard to turn down especially if salaries decline under a new collective bargaining agreement.

Kirilenko Wants To Re-Sign With Jazz

Oct 6, 2010 8:21 AM

Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko wants to re-sign with the team when his contract expires after the upcoming season.

Kirilenko will make $17.8 million and plans to give Utah a chance to keep him when he hits the free-agent market.

"There's no sense to change," he said. "But again ... it's about business. We'll see how it goes after this year."

He is still thinking about playing in Russia after his NBA career is over, but he's not quite ready to think about that yet.

"I will probably stay in the NBA and play a few years here," Kirilenko said.
