Jackson Upset With Faulty Shot Clock

Nov 27, 2010 3:57 PM

The Lakers lost to the Jazz on Friday night after Utah ended the game with an 11-0 run to notch a 102-96 victory.

"The 24-second clock operator," Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson said when asked why his team collapsed.

The Lakers trailed by two with less than a minute to go when Derek Fisher advanced the ball up the court in a transition opportunity.

The referees whistled the play dead because the shot clock was stuck at six seconds. The clock was reset, and the Lakers took the ball out on the sidelines with the Jazz given the chance to set up their defense.

On a previous time down the court, the Jazz had to reset their possession out of bounds in similar fashion, but that came on a play that started out of bounds on the baseline after a Lakers made basket, not a fast-break scenario.

"What was going on there?" Jackson asked.

"That stopped a break on our part. ... Fish had a nice rhythm going on a transition with a 3-point deficit, and it stops the ball and starts it out of bounds. It's not right; it's just not right."

Millsap Treating Ballot Snub As Motivation

Nov 20, 2010 5:55 PM

Jazz forward Paul Millsap wasn't listed on the Western Conference All-Star ballot and he's using the snub as motivation.

"That's weird," Deron Williams said. "You would definitely think with what he did even last year he would be on the All-Star ballot.

"He's probably been overlooked his whole career, going back to high school," Williams added, "so he's no stranger to it. It's probably a lot of his motivation."

Millsap brought averages of 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds into Friday's game.

"I'm not tripping over it," Millsap said. "It's not a big deal to me....My main thing is to win."

Millsap said he wants outsiders to continue doubting in him.

"This is still one of the things that I use to get over humps, to fight over adversity," Millsap said. "I use what other people say to my advantage....It kind of gives you a little extra (motivation), a little extra oomph about yourself, makes you want to go out there and show yourself."

Jazz Recover From Fourth Straight Double-Digit Hole

Nov 13, 2010 10:22 AM

The Jazz defeated the Hawks on Friday night, marking the fourth straight game they've won after trailing by double-digits.

"We take a lot of pride because we're doing it the right way. We're doing it defensively," guard Deron Williams said. "We're executing in the second half. Now we've got to find a way to do it in the first half. We start off sluggish, so maybe we need to shake things up earlier."

Atlanta led 74-63 early in the fourth quarter before Utah went on a 15-4 run to tie the score at 78. They would win 90-86.

The Jazz had previously trailed by double-digits against the Clippers, Heat and Magic before coming back to win this week.
