The Wizards have denied a report from Peter Vecsey of the New York Post that Ernie Grunfeld rejected a three-year, $4.5 million proposal to remain as general manager.
Sources say no extension offer has been made.
Many have speculated that Grunfeld wouldn't return as GM.
Nene had 22 points and 10 rebounds in his debut with the Wizards, a 108-89 victory over the Nets.
“You know Nene is capable of getting 22 and 10,” Roger Mason Jr. said. “The first game, not knowing what we’re doing, I have to temper expectations a little bit. He was great on both ends of the floor. He was vocal. Some of the younger big guys could learn a lot from him. I think Nene came in right away, teaching his positioning and footwork, just little tips to the young big guys, and it really helped.”
Kevin Seraphin shared floor time with Nene, a player he has frequently been compared to throughout his career.
“I like to play with him because he know how to play basketball. If you got a good spot, he will give you the ball,” Seraphin said. “He played really good, so that was a good thing for me.”
Kevin Seraphin has received more minutes following the trade of JaVale McGee while Nene remains in limbo.
Seraphin has averaged 11.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game over the past three starts. Those numbers are similar to McGee and he has also managed to score within the flow of the offense.
“Kevin is doing a good job,” Randy Wittman said. “He’s getting more and more comfortable and he’s got to continue doing what he does: rebound, finding things around the basket, making himself big and a presence defensively. He’s done a nice job of that.”
The Washington Wizards have signed Edwin Ubiles to a 10-day contract.
Ubiles has averaged 20.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 35 games with the Dakota Wizards of the NBA D-League this season.
The Kings reportedly declined a trade offer from the Nuggets of Nene for DeMarcus Cousins, according to a source.
Denver traded Nene on Thursday to Washington in a three-team deal.
The pursuit of a trade by the Nuggets came more than a month ago, shortly following Nene's $67 million extension.
Washington will acquire Nene, while JaVale McGee goes to the Nuggets and Nick Young goes to the Clippers in a three-way trade that has been agreed upon.
Brian Cook and a second pick will be sent out by the Clippers.
Ronny Turiaf will also be included to the Nuggets.
Javale McGee informed the Wizards that he will be seeking a contract this offseason that pays him an annual average of approximately $14 million, according to sources.
That number would put him closer to Marc Gasol than DeAndre Jordan, two free agent centers of the most recent offseason.
The Bucks are now willing to listen to trade offers they receive from rival teams in regards to Andrew Bogut, according to sources.
Sources say the Bucks will only entertain trades from teams willing to take back Stephen Jackson.
Bogut is likely to remain with the Bucks, however, because he is currently out with a fractured left ankle.
“The price (for Bogut) is high,” one interested suitor told ESPN.com this week.
The Wizards are among the teams most interested in Bogut, according to sources.
