Durant: Just Being In All-Star Converstion Feels Good

Jan 29, 2009 10:20 PM

Kevin Durant was not named to the 2009 All-Star team, but he received serious consideration.

?Just to be in the conversation for a young guy like me feels good,? Durant said. ?It just pushes me to work harder and help this team get better. I?m excited to be playing in the rookie-sophomore game and be part of All-Star weekend.

?I?ve heard people say if he doesn?t make it this year he will be (an All-Star) for years to come,? Durant said. ?As a competitor, as a player I want things to happen as soon as possible. If I?m playing like an All-Star I should be in the All-Star Game. Sometimes that may not happen.?

Mason Done For Season

Jan 29, 2009 3:21 PM

Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Sam Presti announced today that guard Desmond Mason will miss the remainder of the season after hyper extending his right knee.

?We are disappointed to lose Desmond for the remainder of the season,? said Presti. ?He is a valuable part of our efforts on and off the court. We will support Desmond and work with him throughout the rehabilitation process. Unfortunately, the timing of the injury does not allow Desmond to return this season.?

Mason suffered a hyper extended right knee at 4:02 in the third quarter of last night?s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. He underwent an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exam this morning that revealed bruising to his right femur and tibia. Team physicians will perform arthroscopic surgery to remove debris caused by the hyper extension.

OKC No Longer Lock To Be NBA's Worst Team

Jan 20, 2009 8:40 AM

The Thunder are 5-5 in their last ten games and have pulled even with the Wizards for the fewest wins in the NBA with eight.

Earlier this season, Oklahoma City was on pace to post not only the worst record in the league but also the worst mark in NBA history.

"Every day, we're heading in a better direction," owner Clay Bennett said. "We're working hard to get a little better every day at everything we do."

Brooks Likely To Become Permanent Coach Of OKC

Jan 19, 2009 9:30 AM

The interim tag on Thunder coach Scott Brooks' title could be lifted in Oklahoma City.

General Manager Sam Presti is reportedly leaning toward making Brooks the team's full-time coach.

The decision, however, isn't expected to be made before the end of the season.

"We are pleased with the job that Scott has done," Presti said Sunday night. "He has shown a great commitment to the Thunder and has brought energy to the task at hand. Scott and I are constantly communicating, and we're both really focused on our players and the continued growth of the team. As we have discussed, we will evaluate the next steps for the Thunder at the end of the season."
