Will Thunder Make A Play For Andersen?

May 29, 2009 6:49 AM

Nuggets forward Chris Andersen will be a free agent this offseason.

Andersen has increased his stock with his play during Denver's deep postseason run, and should be a hot commodity on the free agent market.

The Birdman, as he's known, was a fan favorite during his time with the Hornets. Andersen was a member of the Hornets when they spent time in Oklahoma City a few years ago, now the home of the Thunder.

He would fill a need for the Thunder, but Berry Tramel of the Oklahoman believes that general manager Sam Presti will have to research the forward's rehabilitation at great length before making an offer.

Thunder Scheduling Interview With Rubio

May 22, 2009 4:13 PM

The Thunder are in the process of scheduling workouts with all of the players they are considering drafting with the third overall pick.

Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio is one of those players.

According to the Oklahoman, the Thunder haven't encountered any issues while communicating with Rubio and his representatives, despite internet reports to the contrary.

The only holdup in scheduling appears to be that Rubio's DKV Joventut team is still participating in the postseason.

Goodwin: No GM Will Give In To Threats From Rubio's Agent

May 22, 2009 1:26 AM

DraftExpress reported on Thursday that Ricky Rubio's agent will attempt to dissuade the Grizzlies and Thunder from drafting his client.

"A general manager and an owner are not going to succumb to an agent saying, ?If you select my player he?s not going to come here,?? said Aaron Goodwin.

"If a GM does, he won?t be a GM much longer.?

Some people believe cities such as Oklahoma City will have a tough time convincing players to come join their franchise.

"I don?t think (Oklahoma City) needs to be leery of that,? Goodwin said. "What (general manager) Sam (Presti) is doing is building a good team there. And players go to places that have two things, a good team and a good fan base, period. You?re in town to play basketball and make sure that the fans enjoy you playing basketball and to hopefully win championships. That?s what they?re trying to build down there.

"Each city that has an NBA franchise didn?t start off as a dominant city to be in. It had to be built over the years.?

Thunder star Kevin Durant said in an interview with ESPN 980 in Washington D.C. that he believes the Cavaliers will win the NBA title.

"I think Cleveland will win because they lock teams up on the defensive end. You saw last year with Boston, that's what wins championships. Also, they have the MVP of the league in LeBron, who's doing everything for their team," Durant said.
