Millsap Prefers To Play Power Forward

Apr 17, 2011 3:01 PM

Paul Millsap hopes to return next season as a power forward.

"I like to get down there and get physical. I like to get down there and try to show my strength, try to be a macho man," Millsap said. "It's fun down there to actually go up against a 7-footer and you know you're undersized and you know people are telling you that you can't guard this guy, you can't do that.

"I take it as a challenge."

Figuring out how to use Al Jefferson and Millsap along with the up-and-coming Derrick Favors will be a challenge for coach Ty Corbin next season.

Asked about Millsap being used more in the small forward spot, Corbin answered "Not primarily."

Added the Jazz coach: "I think his natural position is a four, but there'll be opportunities to use him at three some."

Kings Win Tiebreaker Against Nets' Pick

Apr 15, 2011 4:12 PM

The Kings and Nets finished with identical 24-48 records during the regular season and so a tiebreaker was needed to determine lottery odds.

Sacramento won the tiebreaker and have a 7.6 percent chance of winning the lottery, compared to 7.5 percent for the Nets.

More importantly, the Kings will pick ahead of the Nets if the lottery stays true.

New Jersey's first round pick belongs to the Jazz as part of the Deron Williams trade.

Utah Jazz center Kyrylo Fesenko will miss the remainder of the season because of a fractured right thumb.

Fesenko injured his thumb Monday while defending teammate Paul Millsap during practice in Los Angeles. Fesenko was initially diagnosed with a jammed right thumb, and the finger was placed in a splint.

An MRI taken Wednesday in Salt Lake City showed that his thumb was in fact fractured.

Sloan Could Coach Again

Apr 3, 2011 1:35 PM

Jerry Sloan has not closed the door on making a return to the bench, though he won't actively campaign for a new job.

If presented with the right opportunity, Sloan would consider taking another head coaching position in the NBA.

The 69-year-old Sloan left the Jazz mid-season after the team's play deteriorated and there was a reported spat with Deron Williams, who was subsequently traded to New Jersey.
