Billups Might Get Squeezed Out Of Olympics

Jun 16, 2008 6:15 AM

Pistons' guard Chauncey Billups may be the odd guard out when it comes time to finalizing the US Olympic squad, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News is reporting.

With Carmelo Anthony's spot already confirmed, Dwyane Wade providing Jerry Colangelo with a private workout which left Colangelo impressed, and Jason Kidd expected to be team's starting point guard, it is believed that Billups will fight with Chris Paul and Deron Williams for a place on the team.

"I haven't seen Chauncey lately," Colangelo told the Rocky Mountain News. "He's one of the players we're considering."

If Wade is on the team, then it's not likely Colangelo will keep three point guards.

Scott Officially Signs Extension In New Orleans

Jun 5, 2008 9:48 AM

Byron Scott officially signed a two-year contract extension with the Hornets on Wednesday, according to The Times-Picayune.

New Orleans set a franchise record this year for regular-season victories with 56, and captured their first division title.

"Obviously, I'm thinking about things we need to do for next year, things I need to do with certain guys to get them better," Scott said. "I don't think I have to mess with David and C.P. too much. I think they've proven their worth as far as NBA basketball players."

"I've talked to Tyson about some things I want him to do, and Hilton (Armstrong) and Julian (Wright), who I think are going to be vital to our success next year coming off that bench. As long as I feel in my heart and in my mind that these guys are still paying attention and listening and understanding where I'm coming from, hopefully this will be a marriage made in heaven," he concluded.
